I recently received the following mail from a vendor of ours:
While it is great to see this mail from the CEO, and, even though I wanted to talk to the CEO concerned regarding why I did not sign up for his service, this email just put me off.
1. It was evident it was an automated email. The from address and to address was same - I was in bcc.
2. Even if it was an automated mail, it would have been great if the mail was addressed to me rather than the 'Customer'. Dont all email automation software do that?
3. "I’m a kind man": reeks of arrogance. Kindered soul
Would I pick up the phone and call him up? I dont think so. Even though the intent was good, the execution left a bad taste in my mouth.
When you send out any formal communication, do not ignore the personal touch.
Dear Customer,
I wanted to personally ask you what has been stopping you from signing up for our XXXXXX Services.
1. Have you not been happy with the price?2. Do you think our product sucks?3. Have you not been able to understand how the application works?4. Do you think the product will not fit your workflow?5. Anything else?
As a fellow-entrepreneur, I request you to help me improve the product by making it better to suit your needs.Meanwhile, We have also reduced our pricing ( starting Rs. 999/- a month ) and have worked out some attractive discounts if you choose to pre-pay. Please reply to the e-mail or call me at XXXX ( I’m a kind man and like chatting with awesome people like you )
