You sent out your UI mockup to your client for feedback. In response you got dead silence. You waited for an e-mail, a phone call or at least a sneeze that the monsoon carried with it. Then you sent out a gentle reminder saying “I’m concerned that I haven’t heard from you” though you wished you could execute other ideas (those inspired by you religiously watching Lethal Weapon). You met with more dead silence. You can get them to do nothing. How do you deal with this situation?
I was recently faced with this kind of a situation where I would’ve even welcomed feedback like “My grandma/goat/neighbour doesn’t like that shade of orange so please change it”. I just wanted the period of hibernation that’d put even a polar bear to shame to end. For the love of God! Oscillating between indignation and de-motivation I did a Google search to see if I was the only unresponsive-client magnet or if there are others as well who are pushed to the brink of plucking their hair out. The good (or bad) news is that I’m not alone.
Apparently a lot of big names too have to deal with this. Some clients promise to get back to you, saying something along the lines of "Sorry, I've been swamped due to a crisis that took over priority etc, I will revert to you tomorrow" - and "tomorrow" could be 54.64 days later. By this time you’re nearly convinced that life does exist on Mercury since 1 ‘Mercury day’ is equivalent to 54.64 days here (thanks to my latest obsession with Wolfram alpha).
